Who can be a Qualified SEO Specialist?
A qualified SEO specialist must have his website top ranked for the competitive keywords. He must be knowledgeable about both the black hat (unethical/ bad) and white hat (ethical/ good) methods of SEO, but still use only white or organic methods. He must be a true professional, not just work on assumptions or just the very basic knowledge. He must have updated and up-to-date knowledge and must prove his work experience. He definitely should have many years of experience and must be capable to achieve the desired results by bringing the targeted traffic and top ranking for the targeted keywords in variety of industries.

Blogging Tip - What Is SEO?

Expert Author Caroline N. EngstromWhat is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the active practice of optimizing a website by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic the website receives from search engines. Optimizing a website gives you free traffic and hence profit to you at NO cost.
How Does Search Engines Work
When a user uses search using keywords it compares the search string that the user has entered with the pages that are indexed in the database. While doing this the relevancy of each page I calculated.
There are two types of search engines and these are;
a.) Crawler Based Search Engines. Example to this I Google, they create their listings automatically. If you change your webpages, crawler based search automatically find these changes and affect your listing.
b.) Human Powered Directories. These include the Open Directory, the Yahoo Directory etc. They depends on human for its listings. Ranking using Human Powered Directories depends on the short description of your website you submitted when listing your website.
How To Optimize The Website For Search Engines
There are different ways of optimizing your website for search engine, but I'm going to explain 7 methods that I have been using. These are;
1. Have unique HTML title tag, meta keywords tags and meta description tag for every page on your website. Meta tags are are HTML codes that are inserted into the header on the web page after the title tag, these helps your website to be reached when people search for keywords or phrase you describe on meta tags. Meta description tags and meta keyword tags normally works together. Meta description tag is normally the summary of your web page contents. If you are using WordPress blog you can insert Meta SEO Pack plugin to help you with this.
2. Include your keyword or keyword phrase on the header of the page.
3. Begin the body of your page with your keyword phrase and repeat it as necessary throughout the page.
4. Show emphasis on the keywords or phrase by making it bold or italics.
5. Build a text site map and link it to and from every page of your site.
6. Establish your site by submitting to the major directories like yahoo directory, the open directory and search engines.
7. Build your link popularity. Link popularity is determined by the number of and quality of website that have linked to your website.

SEO Price - What Does SEO Cost?

Expert Author Kevin John Lewis
I'm writing about this subject, because a number of potential clients who come to my website interested in SEO services, seem to want to find out the price of SEO services directly from the website. When they find that I have to give them a quotation for SEO services once I have found out more about their website, the URL, the nature of the business, the keywords & the results required, sometimes I'm met with frustration that I couldn't just have the price on my website without knowing more about the project.
For this reason, I wanted to help to enlighten people of the difference between SEO services that can give you a price on a website without knowing anything about your business & your market, and those who cannot.
Pre-set SEO packages
Usually, the SEO services that you can find out the price of from the website, are pre-set packages. For instance :
  • x number of directory submissions
  • x number of articles written & submitted
  • on page optimisation on x number of pages

and so on.
Pre-set SEO packages are easier to package & sell, with attractive looking price tags - but "one size fits all" is not necessarily the best route forward in terms of results.
The Tailored SEO solution
SEO consultants who offer services tailored specifically towards their clients, start off by finding out more about the potential client, and the market. We spend time understanding the market, and will do initial keyword research to find out which keywords are bringing in the targeted traffic. We find out what the client wants - is it targeted traffic & increased sales, or is it high ranking for specific keywords for increased status & PR, - or a bit of both - and we will find out how much traffic the client wants - and we will then produce a quotation for taking the right approach to suit the clients requirements.
This isn't some kind of a way to some how extract the highest possible fee from a client - in fact the exact opposite is true.
For instance, I have recently had a client approach me who is in a very niche specific industry, and only wants traffic from potential clients in a local radius of the business - a "one size fits all" approach would have been far too big for what she needed, and the approach would have taken longer & being far more long winded than it needed to be. In fact what needed to be done was a matter of a few hours work, and was very affordable. On the other hand, I have new clients who approach me, who need a level of work doing that most one size fits all, pre-packaged approaches just would not have gone close to giving the results that they required.
The simple fact is, in the same way that people come in all shapes & sizes - making "one size fits all" a difficult proposition in the world of clothing (it would work with lycra but we'd all look slightly silly, and be very cold) businesses & websites also come in all shapes & sizes, and the right SEO approach for one client is going to be completely different to the approach needed for the next client.
So, the only way to find out the real price of the SEO needed for your website, is to have an SEO consultant do the research, so that they can quote you on the work involved to provide the results you require.

What Is SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing a website through an extensive mixture of tasks that help improve a website's presence on the search engines. So this brings up the question, "What is a Search Engine?" This question can easily be answered by asking you to get on the internet and visiting Google, Yahoo, or MSN. These are the most popular and Major Search Engines.
A search engine is an extensive database that uses algorithms (the way information is collected) to pull information quickly and efficiently, making information easily available. A person using a search engine will specify criteria (keywords/phrases) about something they are interested in for example "Real Estate". When a person enters their search criteria into the search engine they hope to find information that is most relevant to the keywords entered. This is the main goal of a search engine, to give its users totally relevant results of their search criteria.
Now it is important to know how search engines work to understand the question "What is SEO?" Search Engines use robots or spiders, which are software that gather information and bring it back to be analyzed at the main Search Engine Index or in simple terms the main central database that stores all the information. This process in which the search engine spiders gather this information is called "Crawling", or "Spidering".
Here is the best way I could think of explaining this process. Imagine a spider family that needs to gather Food (in the case of the WWW think of food as the HTML text on your website) to bring back to the main spider-web (Search Engine Index "Database"). The spider uses a highway (HTML Links on Websites) to gather food faster and more efficiently.
Once the spider has gathered food, it then takes it back to the spider-web (Search Engine Index "Database"). Now the information is sorted out, and the Search Engine uses this information to help the user find what he or she is looking for. So when someone searches "Real Estate" the Search Engine will provide results that are most relevant from its database. Note: Search Engines are constantly changing the way their spiders collect information and how it is stored in their Index, this is why it is so important to stay up-to-date on changes and techniques.
Keep in mind that on the search engines there are sponsored links that are Paid Search results that usually are placed on the top, side, and bottom of the natural search results. This is a whole other subject called Paid Per Click (PPC) so keep in mind that SEO deals with natural rankings and PPC deals with paid rankings.
Now that you know what Search Engines are and how they work, you can now better understand what SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is and how it can help you. Here is another good example using the spider analogy. Think of a person performing SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) to a website as the spider feeder. This professional will optimize the way that the spider collects food. In terms of a website the professional will optimize the website so that the Search Engine spiders will easily be able to gather the required and relevant information.

What is SEO? Part 2

free!
In What is SEO? Part 1 you learned what SEO means and is and you learned what Search Engines are and how they work. Now you will learn more about some basics and techniques that professionals do to optimize a website for the search engines:
Keyword/Phrase Research - this step is key in the SEO process and should be first above any other step. First, you need to find the keywords/phrases that you think a person would search for to find your website. Really you are researching keywords that are targeted and relevant to your market. Next you will research the traffic volume or popularity of the keywords/phrases, this is essential because it would be pointless to optimize your website for a keyword or phrase that gets zero (0) searches. Next you will research the Competition of the keywords or keyphrases that you have chosen. If a keyword/phrase is too competitive you have to analyze whether or not it is worth optimizing. The reason for this is simple, if you have chosen the keyword "Real Estate" then you have a huge task ahead of you. We are not saying that you can't get ranked on the first page of the major search engines for this keyword but you have to decide if it is worth the time and effort. Choose keywords/phrases that are unique and yet are attainable.
Url/Domain Name Optimization - Once you have found your main keyword you are going to focus on the next step, which is to decide what your Domain name is going to be. You might ask, "What is a Domain Name?" A Domain Name is the name that a person would type into a web-browser to visit your website e.g. http://www.yourdomainnamehere.com/. To optimize your Domain Name you will want to find something that is short, targeted to your market, explains your site, and uses the main keyword you have chosen through your Keyword Research. So for example if your keyword was "Real Estate" then you would want to use those keywords in your domain name. Some may argue that using the keywords in your domain name is to general and doesn't brand your company. This is for you to decide, but it is proven at least for now that the Search Engines use the domain name text in their algorithms of how they see your site's relevancy to the search criteria. Note: The domain name you choose needs to be available to purchase. On-Page Optimization - another important step of optimizing your website is optimizing the web pages that the user and the spiders see. Now this is the trickiest part of SEO because you want to optimize your site for the Search Engine Spiders but you also want to optimize your site for your users/visitors. The best rule of thumb is to lean toward optimizing your site for the users first because more and more the search engines are looking at your site as if a human was, this is called Latent Semantic Indexing, optimize as natural as possible. So on-page optimization uses the following techniques:
* Content Optimization
* Keyword Placement (Frequency, Density, Proximity, etc.)
* Title Tag Optimization
* Meta Tag Optimization
* Spider/Robot Tag Optimization
* Image Alt Optimization
* Internal Link Structure
* 301 Redirects
* Robot.txt Creation
* Broken Links & Page Optimization
* Site Mapping
* Avoiding Specific Design Optimization Issues (Graphic, Flash, Dynamic, Frameset, and Javascript only Sites)
Off-Page Optimization - As important as any of the other steps of SEO, Off-page optimization is key to your success. Think of it this way the search engines want to see how popular your website is to the online world. This strategy of off-page optimization is where you optimize your website off the pages of your site. Link Building is most important to the off-page optimization process. Link Building is where you get a link back to your website on someone else's site. The important step is to have your keyword within the anchor text of the link not just simply putting http://www.mydomainname.com/ as the link text. Getting links from Authority Sites (high traffic and highly ranked sites) is also very important again letting the search engines know that your site is popular. Most importantly with link building is getting links from sites that are relevant to your website and your keywords/phrases, if you for example get 100 links from Health Care websites and your Keyword is targeted toward "Real Estate" then the search engines won't think you are really that popular or relevant to the criteria of "Real Estate". Note: Getting links from irrelevant sites is not bad just not going to optimize your off-page process. Here are some of the important items of off-page optimization:
* Link Building (One Way and Reciprocal Links)
* Link Baiting (Luring others to want to link to your website)
* Article Submissions (Keyword rich content with links back to your website submitted to Article Directories)
* Press Release Submission (Optimized content with keywords & links, and also a great Link Baiting opportunity)
* Directory Submissions
* Search Engine Submission (Submitting your website to the search engines saying, "Spiders come look at my site, I have food for you.")
* Sitemap Submissions
Monitoring Search Engine Rankings (Analytics) - One important skill in SEO is measuring the results of applying some of the basic SEO techniques that we have mentioned above. To be a successful Search Engine Optimization professional you must Test, Test, and Test again. Patience is another quality that someone doing SEO must possess. You need to realize that you will not see results in one (1) or two (2) days actually you must be prepared to begin waiting and it could take time to see results maybe for two (2) to even (6) months. A quick way to see if you website is even seen (indexed) by the search engines is by typing site:www.yourdomainnamehere.com into the search engine, if your site is indexed in the search engine you will see results in the query if not you will see "Your search - site:www.yourdomainnamehere.com - did not match any documents". The manual way to monitor your rankings is simply typing in your keyword/phrase you are trying to rank for and search through the search engine results until you find your website. There are tools that you can use to monitor your rankings. Web analytics measures your online activity such as how much traffic your website is receiving, from where, and also measuring conversion. The most famous and may we add free Web analytic software is Google Analytics. This free web analytics tool is very robust giving you the geographic, trends, exit pages, and referrers of where your traffic is coming from and leaving from.
Now we hope you have learned some key terms, techniques, and basics of what Search Engine Optimization is and how it affects your business and even your life.
So "What is SEO?" well have given you some of the very basics above in this article but we realize that there is much much more to SEO than just these things and you must keep up on all the changes and updates of the Search Engines.

What Is SEO Marketing

and More All with resell rights, or PLR.
In the early days of the Internet finding something could be a hassle. The systems by which search engines operated had not yet been perfected. Relevant information was often hidden away in obscure user groups or sparse online directories. Thankfully those days have long since passed. The chaos of the primordial net has given way to an army of aggregators and search services. The algorithms that these services use have likewise evolved. This development presents an opportunity for marketers, opening the door for a phenomena known as SEO marketing. So what is SEO marketing?
SEO stands for search engine optimization. Simply put SEO marketing is the mechanistic calculation of the internal workings of a search engine, thereby allowing a business to utilize these workings. Most search engines sort returned articles in order of relevance, that is their relative weight in relation to a search term. So what is SEO marketing's main goal? SEO marketing allows a business the opportunity to cement their relevance within a given series of search terms. The ramifications of this are obvious: higher order relevance leads to organic exposure. We define organic exposure in this sense: exposure by which a customer searched for a company and got a result. This is similar to other organic methods, which have come to fall under the blanket expression "viral marketing."
Let's examine a hypothetical company: Tom, Dick and Harry Marine, a relatively successful boat and Maritime equipment dealer. Looking to increase their market share the owners elect to examine a number of different approaches to increase their exposure. Conventional marketing is always an option, billboards, radio and television advertisements, sponsorships and events, all of these can increase exposure. Unfortunately most, if not all of the aforementioned can be expensive. The larger the desired exposure, the more expensive this can be in the end. Let's say that our intrepid entrepreneurs instead decide to employ SEO marketing, through a keen understanding of the way in which search engines determine the most relevant items. So in this circumstance what is search engine optimization marketing's effect?: instant exposure for a bargain basement price.
SEO Marketing may very well prove to be as effective as more traditional forms of advertisements. As more people turn to the Internet as their primary source for information, the influence exerted by search engines dramatically increases. As these search engines become more and more important to a person's day to day life, understanding how to effectively utilize them for the purposes of marketing becomes critical. So what is search engine optimization marketing? SEO marketing provides the tools to reach a wider consumer base, tools to grow, to expand.
So what is SEO marketing? In the right hands, understanding how search engines work, and tailoring your approach to maximize your exposure in an increasingly net reliant world can only be a boon to your business, leading to better exposure, and through that, a better market share. In today's interconnected world, can your business afford not to capitalize on such an opportunity?

What is SEO - An Overview

Expert Author Matthew Paul LeeWhenever you do some research on a search engine, it automatically gives you thousands of sites you can go to. And have you ever wondered how the search engines decide which one goes first on the results that they gave you? And that how come that this certain site ranks higher than others? This is because of the very powerful technique called SEO. So, what is SEO?
SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a way or technique that helps search engines (like Google) find and rank a certain website higher than the millions of websites you can find on the internet. It's basically optimizing your websites/blogs so when someone did a little research for a certain keyword in a search engine, your site will populate at the top of the list. And SEO also means getting high traffic or more people viewing your site.
What is SEO again and how does it work? SEO is also a practice of improving both internal and external aspects of your website to ensure its visibility in every search engine. It is accomplished by optimizing some section in the "HTML" coding of each page. But there are several ways or methods on how a website should be optimized, and it will depend much on the type of site, content, purpose and competition. On the other hand, general search optimization relies heavily on the proper use of keywords that describe the content of a website. Keywords must first appear in the title section of your page. They should also appear in the section where page is accurately described by repeating the keywords. You should also remember that each page title must use one or more unique keywords to ensure maximum search engine optimization. The use of keywords is very essential to SEO because it is the one that drives traffic to your website.
The most important keywords should be used substantially in the first two paragraphs of the content of the page and should be sprinkled throughout the body. Other tricks in helping search engine optimization to work are naming image files and anchors with keywords. Anchors are references to other pages within the site or in other words, cross-links
SEO is really a powerful tool in getting high traffic for your website amongst any other sites available on the internet. It also gives you more exposure for your business and more chances of selling your products or services. SEO is really a necessity for you to succeed in internet business. There are several tutors online that will help you in optimizing your own sites. You just have to carefully search for the ones that will give you more knowledge about SEO. This is what is SEO all about.

What is SEO? and Why is SEO So Important?

Expert Author Sean R Mize
What is SEO?
What is SEO? SEO stands for search engine optimization and is the process of optimizing, or maximizing your webpages, and the linking structure of other webpages, which link to your webpage in such a way that the search engines give you higher rankings for your chosen keywords.
Why Is SEO So Important?
So why is SEO so important? Millions of people daily search for information on the search engines. For any given search term, there are anywhere from a few hundred to a few million search results that reference that given search term. Generally speaking, the search results are designed to be ranked in the order of their relevance to the searcher's search term, or keyword (or keyword phrase).
Most people, when searching for a keyword or keyword phrase, will click on one of top 10 search results on the first page of the search results, or will initiate another search. Therefore in order to gain a reasonable amount of search engine traffic, a website should appear in the top 10 search results for a given keyword. Given the fact that there are for some keywords millions, literally millions of websites having some relevance to the keyword, it can often be a difficult feat, if not almost impossible, to get your webpage in the first 10 search results for a given keyword.
However, by learning the techniques by which the search engines decide which webpages should show in the top 10 search results of a given keyword or keyword phrase, and by optimizing your Web site, in such a way that your website outperforms other websites or webpages in the search engines algorithms, you can literally send your website or webpage to the top 10 search results in the search engines, surpassing many other webpages and websites, if you know what to do.
Many of the guidance, tutorials and information on SEO, in my opinion, are overloaded with far too much detail, and multiple things to do to obtain good search engine rankings without indicating which few of those things to do are actually relevant and necessary to get the top 10 search engine rankings. My personal opinion is that the reason for this is that most of the producers of SEO information are geared towards selling SEO products, software, and advanced tools. By making SEO out to be something very difficult for the average webmaster to perform, it makes their products, software and advanced tools more salable.
However, I believe that SEO can be done in the average webmaster or the average Internet Web business owner with relatively little effort, if the basic tools are understood.
In the past, I have avoided writing on the SEO topic, because in a lot of ways it deviates for my specialization, which is list building an article marketing. However, I am appalled at the lack of good SEO information and have therefore decided to write this short book to teach you what I have learned in the last six months that has enabled me to drive massive traffic to various websites and webpages.
By the way, do you want to learn more about using articles like this to drive traffic to your website and increase online conversions?
If so, I suggest you check this out: article marketing traffic

What Does SEO Stand For? Defining SEO

Expert Author Jed C. Jones Ph.D.You probably see the term "SEO" just about everywhere you look if you have spent much time on the Internet or reading about all-things-Internet. Many people have come to use the term rather loosely without really having a solid understanding of what it means. If you have ever asked yourself, "What does SEO stand for?", the following information can help illuminate the meaning of the term for you.
What SEO Stands For:
"SEO" stands for Search Engine Optimization - quite a mouthful of a phrase (and hence the popularity of the acronym). Let's explore the term "Search Engine Optimization" in order to get a handle on what it means to you and your website.
How Search Engines Work
Most people know what search engines are but are not exactly sure how they work. A search engine is a technology whose functional goal is to make available to searchers of information that information which is most relevant to the search terms they use. The phrase "most relevant" here is key, and this is what separates one search engine from another: how each one determines the relevance and importance of the content they serve up to information searchers can vary widely.
Commonly-known search engine sites are Google and Yahoo!, who together dominate about 90% of all Internet searches today. Search engines are basically made up of three main components. The first is a set of autonomous agents called bots that basically act as virtual librarians, constantly scouring the Internet's billions of pages and recording what they find. The second component is an indexing engine that stores key information about each page found by the bots during their regular searches. The bots then apply special algorithms to determine how to prioritize or rank these pages when someone performs a search for a given term. The third component is the search site itself where people go to perform a search and then view the results.
Defining "Optimization"
The algorithms mentioned above are really the "special sauce" for any given search engine. There is no pre-ordained way to rank content based upon relevance, so search engine companies are always competing to come up with better algorithms that allow them to better classify and rank the content found by their bots. This is where optimization comes in: by optimizing your site for certain search terms or keywords, you are basically slanting the odds in your favor that your site will come up higher than do websites competing for traffic from the same search terms.
Important footnote: Search Engine Optimization refers only to efforts to improve the natural or organic ranking of your site; it does not refer to the practice of paying to drive traffic to your site, which is known instead as Search Engine Marketing, or SEM.
What SEO Means to You
SEO is both an art and a science. It is a science because so many of the elements that make up an search engine optimization campaign can be quantified and analyzed numerically. That's the wonderful thing about the Internet: online activity is eminently measurable. On the other hand, it is an art because there is no one, single formula for achieving strong rankings. Rather, someone engaging in this practice must take a savvy approach, combining common-sense tactics with their own creativity in order to compete with other sites for the best possible rankings.
In general, SEO involves a combination of two things. First, you must optimize your website itself by paying attention to the visible content, invisible content (meta tags), site structure, formatting and other items. Second, you must work to build as many backlinks from other relevant, high-profile websites as possible. Search engine indexing agents take all of this into account when determining how to rank your site for a give search.
How important is ranking well for relevant search terms? Well, it can literally translate to money in your pocket if your website represents a business or is an e-commerce site offering online transactions. A smart SEO strategy starts with an SEO Audit: a thorough analysis of your website to analyze key elements such as: for which keywords is your site currently optimized? Are there issues with the programming code or structure of your site that could impede search bots from reviewing your site?, and What is the quantity and quality of backlinks to your site?
Start any SEO campaign an audit to make sure you are embarking on your journey well-equipped and that you are headed off in the right direction.

What Is SEO or Search Engine Optimization?

Many people are now becoming more and more literate when it comes to using the computer. The computer has become the medium for entertainment, communication and knowledge for the vast majority of the people in the world. It is no longer surprising that even children as young as three years of age has started to visit their favourite websites like Disneyland and hello kitty through different means.
They tend to find them in search engines like Yahoo and Google which makes them knowledgeable of the basics of computer communication. Search engines are like the promoter of web pages all across the globe for they become the gateway to link other people towards different websites. Search engine optimization of websites is one of the biggest reasons why web pages differ in website rankings from one another. This elevates us to one of the biggest questions, what is SEO?
The answer to the question what is SEO is rather quite simple. A SEO or a search engine optimizer is an important part of the web development industry for they make use of techniques to promote and increase the traffic of the web page that they are promoting. Without the proper keywords and adequate web documents, a properly programmed and a well - designed website will not be meaningful due to the inadequate traffic of people being able to view the website. If you are a multinational corporation who wishes to expand your products to clients and investors from all across the globe, you would surely want to have your website rank on the first few pages of search engines. Nobody wants to be on the later pages because those pages are rarely visited.
Search engine optimization utilizes the use of technical or useful techniques in order to improve website's traffic or ranking. Without the help of optimization, web developers will have a hard time determining the right concept of keywords that should be used in the web page. If a web page has a keyword that is not shown on search engines due to its poor search, it would just become a waste of space in the corporate site.
It is very important for a huge corporate company to invest in a better SEO. If you wish to be a globally known company to improve sales and garner more potential investors, you should promote your company on the World Wide Web. If your company is a greatly ranked site in the web, you will have better sales, more investors coming in and more hits to spread the word about your company.
A properly programmed and well - designed site will not be meaningful if not properly optimized. What is SEO? If you do not know anything about SEO, then you are definitely in the wrong zone.

What Is SEO and How Do You Do It for Free?

Expert Author Danny GilbreathWhen I first started in Internet Marketing I saw the acronym SEO all over the place and I asked myself what is SEO. So I decided to do a search and find out what it was. I found out that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
A search engine is where people go to find information on the internet like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. People who have websites want their content to be as close to the number one spot as possible, hence optimization. If their content is in the number one spot their is a much more likely chance that their website will be clicked on. The more clicks they get, the more traffic they get to their website and then more sales, leads or whatever their goal is from that traffic.
What I am going to teach you today are some tips for getting your article to the first page in the search engines SEO, and if you find the right keywords you can get to the first spot. All of these techniques are free to do.
1. Keywords - a keyword is the main subject of what is being searched for or what is in the mind of your customer or prospect. Use the Google keyword tool to help with this. Put a keyword in your title and once per paragraph. Find keywords that are low to medium in competition and high in global monthly searches.
2. Pictures - the search engines love pictures so put a picture in your article. It can be a picture of your or something relevant to your content.
3. Article directories - post your article to 5 or more article directories to get what is called back-links to your site. The search engine love back-links, it makes your site look important.
4. Video - make a short video and post it to you tube about your article and put the link to your article at the bottom this gets your more back-links. Put that video on You Tube. Go to a website called Tube Mogul to blast it out to hundreds of other video sites to get even more back links.
5. Put a link to another page within your site in your article. If you don't have one yet write another article that relates to your current one and link them together.
6. Put a your keyword in your first sentence and your last sentence, and bold your keyword somewhere in your article.
These are all tips that Google likes to see SEO when it crawls around looking for websites to put in rank order. There are more tips for getting to the very first spot SEO that I can teach you later.

What Does SEO Stand For? Avoid the Hype

Expert Author William SieblerWhat does SEO stand for? Simply put SEO stands for search engine optimization but that can mean many different things depending on who you speak to.
Search engine optimization is a process of creating a site that is setup optimally to rank high in Google and other search engines.
This means that you get all the factors on your actual site right (on-page SEO). Basically make sure you include your important keywords (you want to rank for) in the important places on your site - especially the Title tag.
Also use your keywords in your text copy at roughly 2-3 times per 100 words. Your copy should still look natural and read well to a visitor. You also must ensure that it's easy for Google to spider every important pages of your site. A simple way to do this is setup a site map that links to every important page on your site and ensure your home page links to the site map using a simple text link.
There are other on-page factors but these are some of the most critical. More important for ranking high on Google, which after all determines success or failure online, are off-page factors.
Off-page factors are essentially links pointing to the pages of your site. If you get a number of good quality links pointing to your site that use your keywords in them then your chance of a high Google ranking goes up exponentially.
In my experience links are really all that matters. I have proven this time and time again. In the most recent test I have done the site I'm promoting has under 2,000 links and it ranks 1 on Google against other sites in the top 10 that have tens of thousands of links. So you can see it's quality that matters most.
To outrank your competitor you just need to do a bit better than them at everything, knowing what that is where professionals can help you.
So what does SEO stand for? It stands, in my mind, for being on page one of Google and generating serious traffic and income for your site.

What is SEO - And Why Should I Care?

Expert Author Barbara Dearing
What, exactly, is SEO? Good question. Newer internet marketers, and even some not-so-new to the industry, may be wondering just what SEO means, and how it applies to their own online business. Here is a quick overview of SEO and a few ideas on how you can use it to leverage your own online business. SEO, or search engine optimization, is a fancy term used to describe the activities used by webmasters to get the search engines to rank their websites higher in the search results. It is generally known that the top three spots on any search results page will receive the vast majority of the click-through traffic, making those top spots very valuable. The old rule of "location, location, location" holds true for Internet traffic, as well as brick-and-mortar businesses.
A top three position on Google is as valuable as a Rodeo Drive address. So an entire industry called SEO has been developed to help website owners attain those top search positions. The industry began in the mid-1990's when YaHoo was born and the concept of keywords was first introduced. Webmasters quickly learned that the search engines looked favorably upon web pages that contained keywords that matched the search phrase being used. In the eyes of the search engines, the more keywords, the more relevant the page must be to the search topic. And thus, the concept of keyword stuffing was born. By the turn of the century, many of the smaller search engines had fallen out of favor and Google had emerged as an 800-pound Google-rilla. At this point, keywords became a little less important to page ranking and more weight was given to the relative "importance" of the site -- which was measured by the number of clicks the site received for certain keywords. These days, both keywords and click-through rates remain part of the search engine equation, but they are not nearly as critical to page rank as proving that your site is "popular" among related sites.
While Google refuses to publish its algorithm for determining search positions (for very good reasons), it is universally understood that page rank depends heavily on the quantity and quality of any inbound web links. Thus, modern day SEO efforts are geared toward building links from high quality sites related to the topic of the subject website. And how is this done? The options are many and some SEO activities are definitely more effective than others. Some of the more effective SEO solutions include writing a good quality article and asking a high-ranking website to publish it, along with a link back to your website. You can trade links with other websites, but that is not as effective as having one-way links pointing to your site (Google can easily see the link pattern and discounts reciprocal links.) You can join blogs and forums that relate to your site, and leave a signature link back to your site. But all of this activity takes time, and if you own more than one website, it is very possible you will need to outsource some, or all, of your SEO work.
Your outsourcing options include hiring a specialized SEO company to review your site and implement the necessary activities. This option can be a little pricey and is usually used by only the largest online marketers (think WalMart). Another option is to hire freelancers to help you identify potential link partners and then contact them for link opportunities. Freelancers can also write articles and blog posts for you. You can even hire freelancers to research keywords for you. If you don't want to manage a subcontractor, you may find that SEO software is your best solution. There are a number of good software programs that will help you identify the most profitable keywords, locate high-authority link partners, and automatically submit your site to search engines. But once you gain a few good quality links to your website, don't stop there or your website will gradually stagnate and lose favor with the search engines. Link building is an important ongoing marketing activity for any online business. Hopefully, you now have a better understanding of SEO and how you can use it to attain the best search engine rankings for your website.

What Does SEO Stand For?

Expert Author Elisee M. VerrierA common question asked in the website building industry is: What is SEO? Well, SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization, is the art (and really the science) of publishing and marketing web-based content in a way that brings significant profitability and targeted traffic to your website. Think of SEO as a method of optimizing how you set up the title, description, and keywords on your site. SEO is vital not only because it brings a great deal of visitors to your website, but also because it helps to boost your return on investment if harnessed correctly. It is an inexpensive way to help your website get more page views by creating Web pages that rank highly in search engine results. The bottom line is that investing in SEO, whether through time or money, can have an extraordinary rate of return.
In addition to making content available on search engines, SEO can also help boost rankings so that content that has been found will be placed where searchers will more readily see it. The average person is not willing to dig deeply for the information they seek, so your site needs to be as high up on the search engine list as possible. What is critical to the whole process of SEO is keyword research. Another important and frequently ignored idea in SEO is building a site that deserves top rankings on a search engine. Good search engine optimizing combines design, user friendliness, and content. While SEO is not too difficult a science, experts apply meticulous logic in order to reverse-engineer the so-called "black box" otherwise known as the search engines' algorithms in order to identify, quantify, and qualify the hundreds of factors that play a part in search engine ranking. Patience, along with a great deal of skill and knowledge are virtues that should be used when creating optimal SEO.
In your quest to answer the question: What is SEO? be wary (and cautious) of search engine optimizers that claim to guarantee rankings, claim a "special relationship" with Google or any other top search engines, or advertise that they have a "priority submit" association with Google. SEO practitioners can legitimately help themselves by making sure that their websites are more relevant by making the pertinent information clear and easy to access. So often, optimizers merely use spamming techniques to artificially inflate the perceived relevancy of their inferior sites. However, throughout their continued evolution, the major search engines have become well aware of that technique. If done well, SEO is a part of each and every online marketing act, resulting in the improved visibility of the site. In the end, the art of SEO should make a site worthy of a higher ranking, and not simply push it beyond what it's worth. Basic SEO techniques will get your site to where it belongs in the search engine rankings, but aggressive SEO can place you much higher in the rankings than your site would ordinarily be from using simple so-so techniques.

What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)?

Expert Author Aldric Chang
SEO in its most basic form is a series of steps taken to make a web site search engine friendly and have it show up in the search engines. At a more advanced level, SEO can be implemented to allow the web site in question to rank high in the search engines, preferably in the first few positions.
The reason why it is desirable for a web site to rank high in the search engines is so that it will receive free organic traffic from the search engines. Such traffic is highly relevant and valuable because people who arrive from search engines are already interested in whatever they are searching for and highly likely to check the site out.
Obviously such visitors are also likely to convert to long term visitors if the web site offers good content or become customers if the web site offers a desirable product or service.
If you own a web site, it is definitely worthwhile looking into SEO for your site.
Web searches are the dominant form of finding information nowadays. The primary goal of the search engines is to bring relevant search results to users. When a user types in a search phrase, the SE will deliver the most relevant information the user is searching for and that is why, such visitors are almost always relevant visitors.
Through personal experience, I can tell you that web sites gain the highest amount of traffic through search engines if you implement SEO correctly. From the statistics on all my sites, they are responsible for driving 60% to 70% of all traffic to my sites!
Nobody knows for sure however how engines rank web pages except for the SE companies head honcho and programmers. However, it is fair to deduce that each SE has its own unique algorithm for ranking web sites; otherwise all search engines will be showing more or less the same results.
Most experts have observed and agreed that there are some fundamentals in SEO which will affect how search engines rank a web page -
- Whether key words are used within the URL of the page
- Whether key words are used within the title of the page
- Whether key words are used within the meta text description
- Whether key words are used within the content of the page
- Whether key words are using the tag
- How many internal links (links from within the same site) point to the page
- How many external links (links from outside the site) point to the page
- Whether the external pages linking to the page are relevant in subject matter
- Whether key words used to link to the page are relevant
- Whether the images used within the page have alternate text that includes the key words
The list goes on, but the above covers some of the most important aspects of SEO.
Remember, ultimately a search engine's goal is to return relevant information to its visitors. As such, search engines have become very intelligent at figuring out whether or not content is relevant to the search term. If you focus on providing good content on your website, you are on to a good start as far as SEO is concerned.
I would strongly recommend anybody serious in running a web site to invest time into learning SEO or at least look for somebody to help you with SEO.
This investment will bring you many times returns when you enjoy the traffic that comes with well implemented SEO strategies.

What Is SEO? Introduction for the Beginner

Expert Author Dee BanhehSEO is short for Search Engine Optimization. As the acronym suggests, SEO is the process of "optimizing" your websites for the use of search engines. What is a search engine? A search engine is an internet site that was made to find information on the internet. Google and Yahoo are two of the most powerful search engines operating today.
SEO will increase the traffic to a website using techniques that will make the website more search engine friendly. It will be easier for algorithms of search engines to find and identify the website as an important source of information by gauging the number of relevant key words and back links located in that website. This is the criteria a search engine uses to identify relevance.
What is key word? A key word is what you type into a search engine to tell it what you want to find. A powerful SEO technique is to find the most popular key words and purposely pepper the website content with the key word to make it easy to find.
While popular key words will drive in the most traffic to your website, you also need slightly more obscure key words that are specific and unique to your website content. If people are looking for your website, or something specific that can only be found in your website using these key words will make a search engine find you. Using more specific but relevant key words also means less competition for you when topping search results. You are targeting a specific kind of visitor, one that is particularly interested in your website content.
Another important part of SEO is making links. What is a link? A link, also called back link, is references to your website from other websites. What a link does for a website is alert search engines that your website content is important because others refer to it. But this alone will not guarantees high ranking with search engines.
You also need the fundamentals, namely good content. What is good content? Good content is relevant information the internet user is looking for. What is meant by good content is that the written material in the website is original, informative and easy to understand for the average reader. You do not want content that in inaccessible to the majority of readers because the writing style is too technical. Take the effort to make original content, not just churned out information that has been repeated many times over by other websites. Good content will encourage other websites to link your website.
Effective SEO techniques will make a lot of money for an ecommerce business. Sometimes it does not even matter what kind or quality of services or products are offered, they still get sold. Because SEO makes them easy to find by ranking these sites highest on search engines, they sell the best. Your regular consumer will not bother to look elsewhere.
Here is a summary of proven SEO technique that you can use.
1. Key words. Look for the best key word that will describe your content and the direction of your market strategy.
2. Content. Plan how you will develop content. Do not go blind writing up anything just to keep fresh. You need a binding theme. And some expertise in an information niche so your visitors have some idea of what to expect and will be back for more.
3. Key word mapping. What is keyword mapping? It is an important factor in content planning for a website. Use a spreadsheet software to map keywords used in every page.
4. Keyword phrase order. This is an extension of key word mapping. You need to match keywords to relate to page contents that a reader will be able to follow. So if a reader has some interest in something else that maybe in the website, they can easily find it.
5. Keyword buying cycle. What is this? If your website sells something, overtime you can evaluate what that buying cycle is. Evaluate your website every once in a while to find these patterns so you can tweak website content to pull in even more business.
6. Key word prominence. Return to that keyword list you had made earlier. From this list, chose the ones you want to highlight. You can only use a select number of key words when you make titles or meta description tags for each page content. So choose wisely.
These are the standard SEO techniques used to bring in website traffic. There are other technique not mentioned in this article, and there are new techniques being invented everyday. So do some internet research or learn by practice to find the best techniques that will work.
The topmost objective for SEO is very simple. SEO wants to top the highest in search results as often as it can. This will bring in website hits in an organic and unforced manner that most buyers prefer. SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen cluttering the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of results is the key to bringing in target consumers.
Ideally, good SEO can bring a website to rank in the top ten search results of a popular search engine like Google, Yahoo or Bing. Google holds the biggest market with something around 60% of online search use. Keep this in mind when making a SEO strategy for your website. You want Google. Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen in the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of search engine results is the key to bringing in target consumers.
Ideally, good SEO can bring a website to rank in the top ten search results of a popular search engine like Google, Yahoo or Bing. Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, your website might as well be obscure.
SEO can be done by anybody making a website. But SEO is also big business. A large company will readily spend millions to get to the top and stay on the top of search engine results. Each website page is carefully edited to maximum search engine optimization. A SEO specialist will use white-hat SEO methods. We recognize these methods as forum posts and commenting on blogs. Common article marketing is also another method.
SEO is a fast growing industry in itself. The way we find information, the way we buy and sell and do business over the internet is largely influenced by SEO. The future of SEO is secure in the internet.

What is SEO and How Can it Help My Business?

One of the most common questions I get in my line of work is "what is SEO, and how can it help my business?". Search engine optimization, or SEO as it is commonly called, is the process of "optimizing" your website for the search engines. In other words, it is the process of preparing your website so it will rank well in the search results.
You see, the search engines have an incredible task in front of them. They need to provide relevant searches. Google became #1 because their engine provides good results. When someone looks for something, Google helps find the most relevant result.
So how do you convince the search engines that your website should be ranked high? Well, that's what SEO is all about. Convincing the search engines that your website is valuable is a lot like running for an election. You need to make sure that your website:
1. Contains what people are looking for. It needs to have valuable and unique content.
2. Other websites need to be talking about it, and "linking" to it.
3. Is updated on a regular basis.
Optimization is a two-step process. The first step involves analyzing your current market, and determining the kinds of terms you would like your website to rank for. The second step involves doing the actual optimization.
As I mentioned earlier, ranking well for local search terms is INCREDIBLY important. These are people that are literally sitting down at their computers and looking for a business in your market. These are the kinds of people you want to make sure your website is appearing in front of.
I help businesses rank in the search engines for a living, and would be happy to speak with you individually to see how I can help you. You can learn more about getting a free consultation with me at my website, Local Ecommerce Solutions.

What is SEO Article Writing? - SEO Copywriting Explained

Expert Author Yuwanda BlackMany freelancers have questions about what is SEO; what is SEO copywriting; what is SEO writing. This article explains - in detail - what this is. And, how to make money from it as a freelance writer.
What is SEO?
SEO is an acronym for the phrase "search engine optimization." Search engine optimization is all about doing specific things to your website to drive more traffic to it so that you can increase online sales - and traffic.
What are some of these "things?"
There are many, but here we will discuss what it is as it applies to freelance writers. And, this means writing text in a certain way so that web surfers (ie, internet users) can land on a particular site.
What is SEO As It Relates to Freelance Writers?
What freelance writers need to be concerned with is keywords. What are keywords? Keywords are the words and phrases that web surfers type in when they search for things online.
For example, let's say you were interested in starting a foreclosure cleanup business. You may not know anything about it other than foreclosures are hot in the news right now and you are interested in starting this kind of company.
So, you log onto your favorite search engine, (eg, Google, Yahoo! MSN, etc.) and type in the keywords "foreclosure cleaning business" or "foreclosure cleaning" or "foreclosure cleanup" or some other relevant keyword phrase.
Note: When you type words into a search engine to find something on the internet, the words you type in are called a keyword (one word) or a keyword phrase (two or more words with commas in between).
How Businesses Get to the Top of Search Engine Results
When you type in these words and hit "ENTER", a bunch of sites pop up and you start to surf (ie, click on the results) and start investigating the sites to see if they have the information you need.
The sites that pop up are the results that search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, et al think are the most relevant to the keyword phrase (aka search phrase) you typed in. Companies pay a lot of money to be among the first two or three pages in the results that search engines return.
Why SEO Copywriters are So In Demand and How They Make Their Money
One of the ways they get to pop up in the first two or three pages of results is to have relevant text that contains the proper keyword phrases. And, this is where you as an SEO copywriter can make a lot of money. You write the text that their site needs to pop up high in search engine results.
Many times, companies will simply give you a bunch of keyword phrases and let you write what you want -- as long as it's a certain length (usually 300-500 words).
There are many freelance writers - hundreds of thousands, if not a few million. BUT, only a tiny minority know what SEO is and how to write this type of copy. And, this is why they're so in demand.
SEO copywriters have an in-demand skill. And, as more and more companies move larger portions of their advertising budgets to internet marketing, there is an even greater demand for their skills.
In the SearcheEngineWatch article, The SEO Copywriter: Wordsmithing the Web, William Flaiz, underscores the importance of an SEO copywriter. He writes:
"The role of the agency SEO copywriter is unique because.... Suddenly, the writer must optimize press releases, craft articles for social news, monitor social network communications, and develop wiki content.... a strong SEO copywriter is adaptable and capable of internalizing a lot of new information extremely quickly. These unique individuals have fast become the backbone of many SEO engagements. If content is king, then they [SEO copywriters] are the kingmakers."
And this is why SEO copywriters can charge a premium for their services. If you're looking for a way to start or maximize your income as an online freelance writer, then SEO copywriting is they way to go.
